This 3.5-hour cooking class takes place in Psirri, one of Athens' most distinctive central neighbourhoods. You work alongside an experienced cook to prepare five classic Greek dishes using fresh, local ingredients. The class covers technique and cultural context in equal measure — each recipe comes with the story behind it.
The 5-course menu includes Greek Salad (Horiatiki), Tzatziki, Spinach Pie (Spanakopita), Moussaka, and Galaktoboureko. You begin with the salad and yogurt dip, move on to the savory phyllo pastry and the layered eggplant and béchamel casserole, and finish with the custard-filled phyllo dessert soaked in sugar syrup. Steps are explained clearly at each stage, and the format suits all levels — from complete beginners to confident home cooks.
At the end of the session, the whole group sits down together to eat the full 5-course meal. Local wine, beer, water, and soft drinks are included. Classes are capped at 10 participants, keeping the experience genuinely hands-on throughout rather than observational.
The class accommodates vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free diets — notify the provider of any dietary requirements after booking. The venue is wheelchair accessible and no prior cooking experience is needed. Comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes are recommended, as you will be standing and cooking for the full duration.
